Planning your trip to Orange

Just a few hours' drive away from Sydney and over the Blue Mountains in the heart of the central west; lay the town of Orange, well-known for producing award winning wines, food and fabulous setting in the shadow of Mount Canobolas.  When you are planning your trip, whether you are travelling from the central coast or Sydney, consider taking a break just pass the Blue Mountains and stop over for a few hours at the Jenolan caves.

After a great brunch or lunch, explore the heritage centre on a heritage walk and visit a local store or stroll down to the Orange Civic theatre.  Another great heritage walk is through Cook Park in central Orange where Banjo Paterson was sure to have strolled through as well.

If you are visiting Orange with kids, the Orange adventure playground in the botanic gardens is a great way to entertain the little ones.  Or perhaps visit the excellent Orange aquatic centre with its play centres and heated pools.  Another great attraction for Orange visitors are the Orange regional museum and the regional gallery, both are next to the information centre.

Car parking is easy when visiting the regular Orange farmers markets in Orange central.  Orange food is justifiably well known and you will be able to sample produce from surrounding farms and growers.  In season, Huntley berry farm is well worth a visit for fruit picking to pick your own berries in time for Christmas.

For those Orange visitors who feel more adventurous, then a day trip to Pinnacle lookout or Borenore Karst conservation reserve and a visit to veranda cave is recommended.  They all offer beautiful walks trails and bush walks around Mount Canobolas.  For a relaxing walk with water views, then Gosling Creek reserve and Lake Canobolas offer easy access, car parking and beautiful country views.

Lastly, no visit to Orange is complete without a visit to a cellar door.  The Orange wine region and Orange wine have become well known for its high quality and award winning cellar door and winemakers.  When planning your trip, before visiting Orange, have a look at Orange information centre website to see when our wine festival, Orange farmers markets and other special events are on.
